Bars & Restaurants in Chamonix

Restaurants:

Having lived in the Chamonix valley for many years now our team has had ample time to enjoy and explore the eateries on offer in Chamonix. Here is a choice of some our favorite restaurants and bars.

French classic and local cuisine:

With everything from Michelin star rated places such as the ‘Albert 1ere’ all the way to local peasant style food there is an abundance of places to enjoy the best of French. We love eating at ‘Atmosphere’ and the ‘Maison Carrier’ in Cham centre as they both represent excellent value especially with the set menu options. For something a little bit more up market try L’Impossible near Cham Sud. The local Savoie food is famous for its fondues, racalette and other cheesy delights as well as excellent charcuterie. Only one place for the full experience and that’s ‘Le Monchu’ right beside the Casino.

Italian:

Possibly the most famous eatery in all of Chamonix ‘Casa Valerio’ represents the simple no fuss attitude to Italian food. With fantastic wood fired pizzas, superb pasta selections and great Italian vino you will find this place booked out well in advance. Normally by locals!

Fusion & International:

We all love diversity of palate and Chamonix, in our opinion, has the broadest selection of international eateries anywhere in the Alps. With a genuine Japanese sushi bar and many Chinese and Thai places you can enjoy your favorite dishes but our recommendation is ‘Tiger Tiger’ for a great authentic curry after a few local ale’s. For the fusion style try ‘Munchie’s’ or even ‘Le Delice’ in Les Houches.

Bars:

Chamonix has a fair reputation as being one of the best nights out in the Alps and with a host of Bars and Clubs on offer it’s easy to see why. With new places opening up all the time it hard to keep a comprehensive up to date list but some of our favorites are...

MBC:

Great warm atmosphere local brewery/bar serving good food and normally with super music. Great après ski. Enjoy a jar of the locally brewed on site pale ale.

Chambre neuf:

Young vibrant and great après with fantastic music. Normally spilling out onto the street.

La Terrace:

Located slap bang centre of Cham beside the river it always attracts good crowds. Try upstairs for a more relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Bar’d up:

Obligatory Aussie place but good fun on the right night.

Le Vert:

Our nearest genuine bar. Located in Gaillands great for sports evenings and international feel.

Clubs:

Le Cantina, the Garage and No Escape are our pick of the crop.
