Hiking & Climbing Holidays in Chamonix
Without a doubt the Chamonix valley and surrounding area has some of the most spectacular Alpine walks available anywhere in Europe. The real beauty, in more than one sense, is that within minutes of our Chamonix Chalet there is a vast choice of itineraries from simple wooded walks through to mid altitude passes with glacial terrain and stunning lakes, wildlife and of course Mt Blanc as a back drop.
Day trips:
If you are not an experienced walker you can still enjoy some fantastic trips and scenery with the use of some of the main lifts open here in summer. Some of our personal favorites include...
Lac Blanc:
Situated on the Aiguille Rouge above the Flégère ski fields this beautiful high mountain lake enjoys spectacular views of the Mt Blanc massif. If you are light footed enough you can normally enjoy sharing the mountains with the local Chamois!
Bossons Glacier:
Naturally a favourite of ours, as Chalet Tissières is situated just beneath with spectacular views. Walk up beside the highest descending glacier in Europe, through dense pine forests, perhaps stop for an ice cream or lunch at the Chalet des Glacier before continuing up to the pyramids for stunning views at the convergence points of the Bossons and Tacconaz glaciers.
Gorges des Diozaz:
This spectacular day walk is located 10 minutes drive from the chalet. Glacial melt water cascades down through the steep gorges where you traverse above on cable walkways to the magnificent cap stone viewing point.
Large group walking holidays in Chamonix:
If you are a member of a walking or rambling association and are looking for your next weekend or week long trip then the team at Ice and Orange have great personal experience at organising and delivering such holidays in the Chamonix area.
Sleeping up to 33 people in summer the chalet is a fantastic location to venture from to enjoy the best walking in the Alps. Our walking holidays can provide all meals and transport included in your package or just B&B depending on your requirements.
We can help plan your group’s itinerary in advance to make sure you enjoy a holiday suited to your expectations and fitness levels. Additionally we can also arrange for guides to accompany you. With their wealth of knowledge on flora/fauna and the trails this guarantees an unforgettable experience.
Climbing:
Chamonix is widely respected as the home of climbing and alpinism. Annually in July the world climbing championships are held in the centre of town.
The diversity of climbing available is staggering. Choose from high altitude ascents to first time experiences at the various indoor and outdoor facilities in the valley or the fun sport of bouldering.
